Roxas looked out over the port of the West Continent where he would begin his journey back to his home country. He remembered the day he first saw this port, having been on his way toward the Academy as a new student that day. He had been afraid, and yet excited. That day was the day he started to follow in his grandfather's footsteps. His path to becoming a Shinobi. However, it didn't meet his expectations at first. He had imagined them doing all kinds of cool things, not sitting at desks and listening to lectures. It wasn't until recently that they had began doing the more physical aspects of being a Shinobi. And that was about the same time when Roxas lost his arm to one of the strange Awakened children that had attacked the Academy students.

Soon after came the Genin Exams. Now that had been fun. Roxas ended his fight quickly after a few trades of jutsu. But others had finished much faster than him, including one kid named Arikiko. That guy had dominated his opponent, they had stood no chance against the boy. Though, strangely enough, the boy and another child of the Hokkai clan wanted to kill Roxas. He still didn't understand why. But this was one reason for the journey he was going on now. He needed to get stronger to protect himself, but he was reaching his peak that the Academy could offer him. He needed to go out and train in the real world, among the wild like his forefathers did before him. How his grandfather did. Though Roxas was apart of the Kukinorite clan, his origins began in the Kurogane clan who were once masters of the wild. They didn't seek to control or tame the wild creatures, they sought to live among them, become like them. Take back their roots and live peacefully in the wild. But that hadn't been allowed.

Roxas sighed as he made his way down to the docks were the ferry boats awaited to take travelers over to the Land of Beginnings. He had not been on a boat for a long time and was kind of afraid to get on one again. There was no land out there beyond the boat that he could skate on. And he had yet learned how to ride the winds at the Wing Road of the Kukinorite allowed. With nervous shifting, Roxas bought himself a ticket and boarded the ferry. He made his way to the front of the boat and looked out at the blue horizon of the sea. This felt like it was going to be a long trip. And so, the boat headed out to carry Roxas to his destination, the Land of Ash where he would learn how strong he had become, and hopefully become stronger yet. He really wanted to visit the Land of Chaos and pay his respects to his grandfather's pet, but that would take too long. By the time he returned to the West Continent, the Chuunin Exams would be over and he would have to wait a year before the next one, just as his grandfather had waited.

As Roxas sat to rest on the deck of the ferry he noticed a little glimmer of metal in a small corner of the main deck up under a life boat. He got up and walked over to the object and carefully pulled it out to examine it. He wasn't quite sure what kind of metal it was, as that had nothing to do with what he wanted to learn. But he knew there were people in this world who searched for objects of all kinds and maybe he could make a good deal off of it. Who knows? He decided to pocket the metal before returning to his place on the ship.

There was nothing really to do on the ship. Not many people on board and the sky was clear. A perfect day for sailing, he guessed. Though he kind of wished something exciting would happen. After the first hour went by he had managed to get bored of playing eye spy with himself, of course that was to be expected. Eventually he just lay back and attempted to take a little nap. However, the motion of the ship crossing the waves of the sea kind of kept him from sleeping. It wasn't until a strong wind came through that he managed to feel at ease, the wind was definitely much stronger out in the sea than it was on land. He smiled and held his hand up in the air, wishing he could just fly to the village. He longed for his home up in the sky, where he could feel the currents rushing all around, where the thrill that he could fall any moment rushed through him.

Eventually Roxas fell asleep. He wish he hadn't for it was extremely vivid. He stood prowling in the dark, following a scent he knew was familiar, but he actually had never smelt it before. And how was he tracking it through scent? He couldn't track things through scent, only through vibrations in the ground or trough the currents of the air. Strange... Eventually he saw light ahead, dim light lit orange by a volcanic area. In it stood a little girl, his prey. A low growl came from the darkness next to him. The sound of a big cat. He tried to look at it but all he could see was darkness, no moon or stars above to shed any light. It was the perfect territory for a wild animal to hunt its prey.

From there the dream got worse. Fighting, wrong moves, the large animal cried out in pain. Roxas didn't know why, but the sound sent him into a blind rage. Everything filled red and he roared in anger. The ground began to get further and further away, every little movement caught his eye. However, his attention was on the lone girl who smelt of crystals. He let out a tremendous roar, shaking the earth beneath his.. claw? That wasn't right... Then he went to lung at the gir, but something smacked him hard in the back of the head. The lights started to dim and the ground rushed up at him. The last thing he saw was someone rushing in to save the girl, and then a lone woman, dressed in barely any clothing, standing over Roxas.

When the lights went out, Roxas awoke, jumping to his feet and pulling his Chikuto out from its sheath. But there was no one around. His breathing was fast and ragged. It took him a moment to realize it had only been a dream. He sighed and sheathed his blade before looking out toward the ocean. What he saw was land. Land, sweet land. He had made it to the Land of Ash.
